Alles

Guided walk around Alles

A walk through the village with a local guide: indiano architecture, the history of the municipality and a tasting of local produce.

Alles is the main town of the municipality of Peñamellera Alta, and it has kept an old quarter with several indiano mansions, a baroque parish church and a well-preserved traditional layout. The best way to take it in is with a local who knows the history from the inside.

The guided walk — led by a local guide — takes in the village’s main architectural landmarks and explains how the municipality’s indiano heritage came about (the great waves of emigration to Mexico and Cuba in the 19th and early 20th centuries), ending with a tasting of local produce.

There are two versions: one of about 1 hour 30 minutes, and a longer one, for the more curious, of 3 hours.

It makes a good first activity once you arrive at La Posada — it puts everything else in context. Book ahead: the guide doesn’t do this for a living, he fits it around his main work.

Given the conditions of the setting, the activity is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
