The area around the Picos de Europa holds some of the best canyons in northern Spain: gorges carved into the limestone by water, with jumps into deep pools, natural slides, short abseils and a striking vertical feel.
The local outdoor-activity companies run guided half-day descents — from family beginner routes (canyons with no compulsory jumps) to technical canyons for anyone with prior experience. All the kit is included: wetsuit, helmet, harness, neoprene boots.
Usual minimum age: 10-12, depending on the canyon. The season runs from June to September, when the water level and temperature are right. Twenty minutes from Alles to the most common starting points.
