Pico Ledesma (Sierra del Cuera)

A summit in the Cuera range with a distinctive profile and a fine vantage point. A day's walk with moderate ascent and views over the coast and the Picos.

Pico Ledesma is one of the most recognisable landmarks of the Sierra del Cuera as seen from the valley. Its pointed outline sets it apart from a distance and makes it a classic objective among Asturias’s mid-height mountains.

The most popular ascent starts from villages in the municipality of Llanes or in Peñamellera Baja. The route mixes track, beech wood and open pasture up to the summit area, where the gradient steepens. From the top there’s a full panorama over the sea, the Llanes coast and the northern wall of the Picos.

As everywhere in the Cuera, the mist is the main uncertainty, even on days that start out clear. We’d recommend setting off early and, if you don’t know the area, going with a local guide.
