Tito Bustillo cave, in Ribadesella, is one of the high points of Palaeolithic rock art in Europe and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage group. It was discovered in 1968 by a group of cavers from Oviedo — one of them, Celestino Fernández “Tito Bustillo”, died shortly afterwards in a mountaineering accident, and the cave took his name.
The Main Panel — a gallery more than 40 m long with horses, deer and abstract signs — and the Camarín de las Vulvas, with its remarkable symbolic figures, are the heart of the visit. Next to the cave, the Rock Art Centre interprets the site and gives access to visitors who cannot get a place inside the original cave, where numbers are very limited.
