The Peñamellera valleys and the gentle slopes of the Sierra del Cuera make fine country for getting to know the area on horseback: drovers’ tracks, rural lanes between meadows and mixed oak and chestnut woods, with views of the ridge and the Picos de Europa beyond.
Local companies run routes for every level: short beginner rides for families with children, two- to three-hour outings for the more experienced, and full days with a picnic for anyone who wants to spend it in the saddle. The horses are trained for mixed terrain and good-natured.
The starting point is in the area itself, less than fifteen minutes from Alles. Usual minimum age: 6-7 for the beginner routes.
