Poo beach

An inland inlet that turns into a beach at high tide. Calm water, a sandy bed and shallow depths — ideal for children.

Poo beach is probably the most family-friendly in eastern Asturias. It forms in a small inlet that runs inland from the sea: at high tide the water fills the whole cove, leaving a wide, calm sheet with no swell and very little depth. At low tide it almost entirely disappears, exposing a sandy, muddy bed.

That natural shelter makes it hard to beat for young children: no waves, no currents. Access is from the village of Poo, with parking nearby and basic facilities.

It’s worth checking the tide tables before you go: the useful swimming window is concentrated around high water. Thirty minutes from Alles.
